PESCO Operation Against Power Theft Underway, Rs9.85m Fines Imposed

PESHAWAR: The operation of Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) against power theft was continued without any break, and PESCO teams conducted raids in different localities across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) to nip the people involved in power stealing.

CEO PESCO Qazi Muhammad Tahir said that during the operation, more than 2300 Kunda were removed, and Rs9.85 million fines were imposed on those involved in kunda practice by using illegal electricity.

He said a total of 1877 requests have been sent for the registration of FIRs against power stealers, and more than 546 FIRs were lodged against electricity thieves.

Tahir said that several power thieves were apprehended by the combined team of PESCO officials and Police on the spot and handed over to the Police for further action.

Report to PESCO

He said that the PESCO users can report electricity stealing by calling 118.

He also requested the general public to report any power theft in their respective areas in order to ensure continued electricity usage to genuine consumers.
