KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has managed to restore its flight operations to normal after resolving a critical fuel supply issue.

The airline had been facing delays and suspensions due to a shortage of funds and the inability to pay Pakistan State Oil (PSO) for fuel supply.

A PIA spokesperson confirmed that flight operations are gradually returning to normal. On a single day, a total of 85 flights are scheduled to depart from airports across the country, comprising 25 domestic flights and 60 international flights. This includes the operation of Boeing 777 and Airbus aircraft, indicating that the airline is getting back on track.

PIA had been struggling with a severe financial crisis, which raised concerns about its ability to sustain air operations due to mounting debts.

Earlier, the airline had to cancel five flights due to a lack of available aircraft. These cancellations affected routes such as Karachi to Islamabad, Karachi to Faisalabad, Lahore to Karachi, and Karachi to Lahore.

However, there appears to be some relief for PIA as its bank accounts were unblocked after resolving issues with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) over non-payment of dues. This development likely played a crucial role in allowing the airline to resume its operations and overcome the fuel supply challenges.

As PIA continues to address financial issues and operational challenges, it aims to return to stable and consistent flight operations while ensuring the safety and satisfaction of its passengers.
