PIMS Hosts Ceremony to Commemorate ‘Word Blood Donors Day’

ISLAMABAD: A prestigious ceremony was organized at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) to commemorate World Blood Donors Day. Secretary of Health, Iftikhar Ali Shilwani, and President of Allied Health Professionals Council, Zamarud Khan, graced the event as special guests.

The ceremony witnessed the presence of esteemed individuals including Major General Retd Mustafa Kamal Akbar, Brigadier Retd Nizhat Abbas, Colonel Retd Taqmir Abbas, Prof Retd Hasan Abbas Zaheer Murtaza Burhani, and Prof Ahmareen Khalid.

Secretary of Health expressed gratitude towards the organizers for arranging the program and extended tribute to the doctors and paramedical staff, acknowledging their exceptional skills and capabilities that have garnered global recognition.

Secretary Health urged the youth to actively participate in blood donation drives, emphasizing the importance of this noble act. He encouraged individuals to donate blood themselves and motivate others to do the same.

Health Benefits of Blood Donation

Zamarud Khan, during his address, mentioned the establishment of a blood bank in Sweet Home and the organization of donor camps on various occasions to collect and donate blood. He emphasized the health benefits of blood donation, stating that it keeps individuals energetic. He commended the dedication and performance of the blood bank’s head and professionals, who consistently demonstrated excellence regardless of the circumstances. He called for increased blood donation and urged attendees to spread the message to others.

The ceremony also witnessed active participation from representatives of the All Pakistan Paramedical Staff Federation, PIMS Non-Gazetted Association, and other social personalities. Shahid Khan Khattak, Secretary General of the federation, Tahir Malik, President of PIMS Non-Gazetted Association, and Waseem Gujjar, General Secretary of PIMS, voluntarily donated blood, playing their part in this charitable cause.

The event was enriched by the presence and speeches of notable figures, including Malik Tanveer Nowshahi, Founder and Central Chairman of Young Welfare Council Pakistan, and Haji Muhammad Hanif, who delivered special addresses.
