SRINAGAR, Occupied Kashmir: Mehbooba Mufti, the President of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), strongly criticized the Indian government’s arbitrary arrests in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. She expressed concern over the insecurity of life, property, and privacy due to what she termed as “repressive measures” by various government agencies. Mufti highlighted the case of an elderly woman arrested on alleged money laundering charges, emphasizing that even women were not spared in the region.

Addressing the lack of transparency regarding the fate of those arrested by agencies like NIA, CBI, SIA, and SIU, Mufti demanded answers from the administration. She questioned the undisclosed whereabouts and legal status of the detainees, urging clarity on whether they were alive or deceased, their detention locations, and the courts involved in their cases.

Mufti criticized the lack of convictions despite numerous arrests, attributing them to fabricated charges. She called for a policy review by the administration in light of these circumstances.
