ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives in a bus accident in Kallar Kahar and directed the concerned authorities to provide best-possible medical treatment to the wounded.
At least 14 people, including women and children, were killed, and 64 others were injured on Sunday night, after a bus fell into a ravine and overturned near Kallar Kahar tehsil of district Chakwal.
Accident occured amid bus’s brake-failure: authorities
The accident occurred due to brake-failure of the bus, according to the spokesperson of Motorways Police. The bus, carrying passengers for a wedding ceremony, was en-route to Lahore from Islamabad.
The prime minister prayed for the departed souls to rest in eternal peace and for speedy recovery of the wounded.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah directed the rescue staff to provide every possible assistance to the injured.
