PM Felicitates Uzbek President Mirziyoyev on his Re-Election

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday congratulated President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on his re-election in the presidential elections held on July 9.

According to a press release issued here by the PM Office Media Wing, the prime minister held a telephone call with the Uzbek president and felicitated him on his re-election while terming the development as the reiteration of the confidence of the Uzbek people in the leadership of Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The prime minister expressed his strong confidence that bilateral ties between the two sides would intact and continue to strengthen under the stewardship of the Uzbek President.

Pakistan-Uzbekistan Friendly Ties

Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the importance attached by Pakistan to bilateral relations with Uzbekistan and expressed his satisfaction with the operationalization of the Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) and the Uzbekistan-Pakistan Transit Trade Agreement (UPTTA).

He further said that both agreements would play a pivotal role to enhance economic and trade relations between the two countries.

Recalling their previous interactions in Samarkand and Astana, the two dignitaries discussed the prospects of expediting regional development and agreed on the need to further expand bilateral cooperation in the fields of agriculture, energy, connectivity, IT, textiles, and logistics.
