MUZAFFARABAD: Pakistan’s Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has reiterated the country’s resolve to continue extending diplomatic, moral, and political support for the peaceful and just resolution of the Kashmir issue as per aspirations of the Kashmiri people and the United Nations resolutions.

Addressing a Special Session of the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly in Muzaffarabad on Monday, PM Kakar said India cannot impose any unilateral solution on occupied Kashmir. He said Kashmir had been an important point of Pakistan’s foreign policy.

The Prime Minister said Pakistan has always raised a strong voice for Kashmir’s cause on all world fora. He said this resolve has the support of the entire nation of Pakistan.

PM Kakar said the Kashmir issue can only be resolved through a plebiscite under the United Nations auspices and as per resolutions of the UN and aspirations of the people of Kashmir.

Prime Minister Kakar said Jammu and Kashmir, being a Muslim-majority area of British India, should have been part of Pakistan, but the aspirations of Kashmiri people were crushed by force and conspiracies by India.

Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar said the area of Azad Jammu and Kashmir was freed after a lot of struggle, and Pakistan remains committed to its progress and development.

PM Kakar said India took the dispute to the United Nations, which recognized the territory as disputed and decided in favor of a free and fair referendum to be held under the auspices of the United Nations.

The Prime Minister said decades have passed, but the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu (IIOJK) and Kashmir have not been given the opportunity to decide their future.

Reiterating Pakistan’s unflinching support to the Kashmiri people, PM Kakar urged India to respect its promises made before the UN Security Council (UNSC) and, above all, to the people of IIOJK.

He said India’s claims of being the largest democracy are all hollow, and the UN Security Council resolutions will never go redundant.

Just Solution of Kashmir Issue Only Possible Under UN-brokered Plebiscite

Earlier, Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar said the final and just solution to the Kashmir dispute is only possible under a UN-brokered plebiscite and as per United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions.

PM Kakar said this during a meeting with Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwaar-ul-Haq and Speaker of AJK Legislative Assembly Chaudhry Latif Akbar in Muzaffarabad. PM Kakar arrived in Muzaffarabad on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day today.

The Pakistan Prime Minister said he and the entire Pakistani nation are standing shoulder to shoulder with their Kashmiri brethren in their just struggle for the right to self-determination. He said New Delhi’s brutalities and atrocities in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) are no longer a secret. He said the silence of the international community on Indian atrocities on innocent and oppressed Kashmiris is alarming and condemnable.

On the occasion, PM Kakar also pledged that Pakistan will continue extending its political, moral, and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri brothers and sisters until they achieve their due right to self-determination.

The Speaker of the Legislative Assembly and the AJK Prime Minister welcomed the visit of the Prime Minister of Pakistan to Muzaffarabad.

They said PM Kakar’s arrival in Muzaffarabad on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day sent a clear message that the hearts of brothers and sisters of Pakistan and Kashmir beat together.
