PM Kakar Updates Guterres on India’s HR Violations in Occupied Kashmir

NEW YORK: Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, the acting prime minister of Pakistan, met with Antonio Guterres, the secretary-general of the United Nations, and informed him of the continued human rights abuses committed by India in the illegally occupied region of Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. In this meeting, the Prime Minister provided a detailed account of India’s ongoing human rights violations in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

During their meeting, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar highlighted India’s controversial actions on August 5, 2019, when it revoked Kashmir’s special status.

He stressed the need for implementing UN Security Council resolutions related to the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. The Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the UN Secretary-General’s support during the floods and for co-hosting the Geneva Conference on Pakistan’s recovery framework.

He also acknowledged the severe threat of climate change and emphasized that developed nations must fulfill their climate finance commitments. Additionally, he provided an update on the newly established Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), designed to attract investments for Pakistan’s economic recovery.

The Prime Minister appreciated the UN Secretary-General’s call for global financial transformation to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and proposed measures to strengthen the SDG agenda. —APP
