PM Kakar’s Visit to Xinjiang Strengthens Pakistan-China Ties

URUMQI, China: As part of his ongoing visit to China, Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has arrived in Urumqi, the Xinjiang Autonomous Region.

This visit carries significant diplomatic weight and marks a milestone in the enduring relationship between Pakistan and China. During his visit to Xinjiang University, he addressed a diverse audience of scholars, researchers, academics, faculty members, and students, reinforcing the commitment to further strengthen the Pakistan-China All Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership for mutual peace, prosperity, and development.

President of Xinjiang University, Yao Qiang, and members of the academia warmly welcomed the Prime Minister. In his address, Prime Minister Kakar emphasized the strategic importance of Xinjiang as a frontier of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He acknowledged the historical significance of Xinjiang as a pivotal point in connectivity, harking back to its role as a hub along the ancient Silk Road.

Recognizing the cultural and historical linkages between Xinjiang and Gilgit-Baltistan, the Prime Minister expressed Pakistan’s keen interest in partnering with Xinjiang to promote connectivity in various dimensions. This collaboration encompasses infrastructure development, economic synergy, trade and investment, agriculture, educational exchanges, scientific and technological cooperation, and fostering people-to-people interactions.

Prime Minister Kakar emphasized the pivotal role of education in strengthening the bond between countries and peoples. He highlighted the importance of students in advancing international relations and expressed optimism about the youth of Pakistan and China serving as bridges of friendship and brotherhood in the years ahead.

During his visit, the Prime Minister also had the opportunity to explore the History Museum of Xinjiang University. Here, he was briefed on the rich history of the 99-year-old institution, further underscoring the historical and cultural ties that bind the two nations.
