ISLAMABAD: Muhammad Aamir Jan, the Executive Director of the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC), highlighted the significance of the Prime Minister’s Youth Skilled Programme as a crucial pillar for empowering the youth with essential tools and innovative skills that resonate on a global scale.

In an interview with PTV news channel, Jan underscored the caretaker government’s commitment to empowering the youth by implementing skilled and vocational training programs. He emphasized the role of these initiatives in providing enhanced employment opportunities both within the country and abroad.

Jan shared that annually, over 4.5 million individuals enter the labor market in Pakistan, with only 1.5 million possessing adequate skills. The Prime Minister’s Youth Skilled Program aims to bridge this gap by providing skilled training to 56,000 people nationwide, aligning these skills with international certification standards.

The program, focusing on job creation, economic empowerment, social engagement, and education, seeks to reduce the vulnerability and exclusion of young women and men. Jan explained that the initiative aims to empower hundreds of thousands of marginalized and excluded youth across the country.

Encouraging parents to support their children in pursuing vocational skills during academic downtime, Jan highlighted the need for proactive media engagement to raise awareness and promote vocational education training programs at the grassroots level.

Emphasizing the pivotal role of skilled human resources in the constant operation of industrial units, Jan stressed that technical training plays a vital role in the social and economic development of the country. He concluded by advocating for the introduction of skills programs at the provincial level, presenting an opportunity to popularize skills education linked with employability and job markets.
