ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the successful hosting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Heads of Government meeting as a significant diplomatic achievement for Pakistan.

“Pakistan’s diplomatic profile has been further strengthened internationally after successfully hosting this summit,” he stated during a banquet held for senators from allied political parties.

The prime minister congratulated the leaders of the political parties on the successful conclusion of the SCO summit, highlighting the collaborative efforts of all relevant institutions. He also noted the success of the recent visit by the Chinese Premier.

Shehbaz Sharif specifically acknowledged the crucial role played by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar in the event’s success.

Expressing confidence in the country’s ongoing economic recovery and stability, he asserted that the government would respond to political opponents with tangible development and prosperity. He remarked that, due to prudent policies, the economy had stabilized and achieved its 2025 targets ahead of schedule.

The prime minister pointed out a rapid decline in the inflation rate and emphasized the hard work of coalition parties to ensure economic stability, often putting aside their political interests. “You have all sacrificed your politics and worked hard, leading to economic stability and diplomatic successes,” he told the coalition leaders.

He acknowledged the sacrifices made by all political parties and citizens in overcoming challenges, stating, “All political parties and institutions are working together for national development.”

Furthermore, he highlighted the consistent increase in foreign remittances over recent months, reflecting the confidence of overseas Pakistanis in the current government.

The event was attended by Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, DPM Ishaq Dar, and senators from government allied parties.
