ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday reiterated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would have to take a trust vote.

The comment comes after the PDM coalition partners, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), threatened to leave the coalition government in the centre.

However, in an attempt to keep MQM-P in the alliance, PM Shehbaz, Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari had assured the MQM-P of addressing their grievances.

In an interview with a local news channel, Imra Khan said that PTI has passed the test of taking a trust vote in the Punjab Assembly. Now, PM Shehbaz Sharif will be fully tested, Khan said.

PM Shehbaz will require to pass the test

Referring to the recent trust vote taken by Punjab Chief Minister Parvez Elahi, Imran Khan said: “Our numbers had been completed in Punjab. Moonis Elahi worked really hard at the last moment to achieve the required numbers of the PML-Q.”

While denying horse trading allegations, Khan said that the PDM was still stuck to the “politics of Changa Manga.”

“The country has changed, and they do not realize it,” Khan said. He added that for the first time in the country’s history, Punjab stood against the Punjab establishment during the by-elections in July 2022. “The by-elections changed the country’s politics.”

Imran Khan said that he realized the opposition was shocked at Chief Minister Elahi’s success in getting the required number of votes after seeing their photos while seated in the Punjab assembly.

“They thought the establishment was behind them, and they will manage to win,” the Khan said.
