ISLAMABAD: Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly (NA) Raja Riaz has said that he will meet with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday (tomorrow) to consult on the name of the caretaker premier.
The government is completing its constitutional tenure in a few days and the prime minister had already announced that he would send advice to the president for NA dissolution on 9 August.
As per the Constitutional requirement, the prime minister and opposition leader are required to hold consultations on the caretaker prime minister’s name.
Riaz is Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf dissident member and became the opposition leader in the National Assembly with the backing of other rebel parliamentarians after PTI resigned en masse in April 2022.
PM Shehbaz Sharif to Advise President for NA Dissolution
Meanwhile, PM Shehbaz Sharif is likely to send his advice to President Arif Alvi for the National Assembly dissolution today, according to a local media outlet.
The NA dissolution will pave the way for the establishment of a caretaker government.
