ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during a federal cabinet meeting on Tuesday, emphasized his unwavering commitment to transforming Pakistan into a prosperous and resilient nation. He called for a unified effort across all segments of society, underscoring the importance of teamwork as essential for achieving national success.
In his opening remarks, the Prime Minister stressed the need to learn from past mistakes and move forward with tireless efforts to build the nation envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He noted that the upcoming Independence Day would serve as an opportunity for the entire nation to reaffirm its dedication to the country’s progress.
Shehbaz Sharif also paid tribute to Olympic gold medallist Arshad Nadeem, whose hard work and determination have added special significance to the Independence Day celebrations. He acknowledged the crucial role of Arshad’s parents and coach in his success and announced his recommendation for the nation’s highest honors to be awarded to Arshad in recognition of his achievements. The Prime Minister also extended an invitation to Arshad and his family for a dinner at the Prime Minister’s residence in Islamabad as a gesture of appreciation.
The Prime Minister praised the efforts of the power minister, his team, and other cabinet members for working towards making electricity more affordable, highlighting the importance of reducing production costs for industrial revival. He stressed the need for innovation in government operations, particularly through the revitalization of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). Shehbaz Sharif outlined his vision for cutting bureaucratic red tape, streamlining routine paperwork, and digitizing processes, with consultants already appointed to facilitate these reforms. He directed all ministries to go paperless, emphasizing that embracing innovation is key to achieving success.
Lastly, the Prime Minister noted the government’s proactive approach in vacating stays sought by some FBR officers, reflecting his administration’s commitment to efficient governance and reform.
