ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will reach Türkiye today (February 16) for a two-day visit in a special gesture of solidarity and support in the wake of the recent massive earthquake that claimed thousands of lives in Türkiye and Syria.
During his stay in Ankara, the premier will meet the President of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and personally convey him heartfelt condolences on behalf of the entire nation over the loss of precious lives and the large-scale damage caused by the tremor.
PM Shehbaz will reiterate Islamabad’s firm commitment to stand by the Turkish people during these difficult times and to continue extending all possible assistance to the ongoing relief effort.
PM to visit affected areas, meet survivors
The Prime Minister will also visit earthquake-hit areas in southern Türkiye, and interact with survivors of the tremor as well as the Pakistani search and rescue teams deployed in the area.
After the devastating earthquake in southern Türkiye, PM Shehbaz had spoken with President Erdogan on February 6 and assured him all possible support for rescue and relief efforts.
The PM is personally overseeing the relief effort underway in the affected areas.
Brotherly Muslim nations, Pakistan and Türkiye, enjoy deep fraternal ties and have resolutely stood by each other during every trial and tribulation.
