PM Shehbaz Urges for Political Unity Against Anti-Pakistan Elements

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, on Tuesday appealed to all the political forces to unity against anti-Pakistan elements.

In a tweet, he said terrorists, through their despicable actions, want to spread fear and paranoia among the masses and reverse our hard-earned gains against terrorism and militancy.

The Prime Minister said his message to all political forces is unity, and we can fight our political fights later.

Meanwhile, the Senate, which resumed its session at the Parliament House in Islamabad on Tuesday with Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani in the chair, is discussing recent incidents of terrorism in the country.

Participating in the debate, Senator Raza Rabbani strongly condemned the suicide blast in the mosque of Peshawar yesterday.

He said the anti-terrorism policy should be discussed in the parliament’s joint session on the 8th of next month. He asked the political parties to hold national dialogue inside the parliament and evolve consensus on important matters of national interest.

National unity stressed to avert Peshawar-like incidents

Senator Saifullah Abro stressed efforts to avert Peshawar-like incidents in the future. He said there should not be political point-scoring on security-related matters.

Bahramand Khan Tangi emphasized the need to implement the National Action Plan (NAP) to curb terror incidents. He said those behind terror activities must be apprehended and given punishment.

Describing the Peshawar Mosque blast as reprehensible, Muhammad Tahir Bizenjo said the government should focus on improving the security situation and protecting the lives of ordinary people.

Muhammad Akram said Pakistan is faced with the menace terrorism because of flawed policies of the past.

Mushahid Hussain Sayed said the time has come to formulate a clear policy against terrorism. He said we need serious course correction while learning from past mistakes. He said NACTA should be strengthened.

Law Minister Shahadat Awan has reaffirmed the government’s determination to root out terrorism and restore peace in the country.

Winding up a discussion in the Senate today on the recent acts of terrorism in the country, he said the nation is aggrieved over the Peshawar incident.

He said our law enforcement agencies could deal with the menace. He stressed the need for national unity and cohesion to deal with it.

Later, the House was adjourned to meet again on Friday at ten thirty am.

Peshawar blast death toll soars to 93

The death toll of the Peshawar blast has risen to 93 as a rescue operation is still underway, and debris from the mosque is being removed.

According to Police Control Room Peshawar, more than two hundred injured were brought to the Lady Reading hospital, out of which about one-hundred injured are under treatment, and the rest have been discharged.

Meanwhile, funeral prayers of forty martyrs have been offered so far at Police Lines Peshawar Charsadda, Mardan, Swabi, and Kohat.

According to details, the funeral prayers of thirty-three martyrs were offered at Police Lines Peshawar, and the funeral prayers of four martyrs were offered in Charsadda and one each in Mardan, Swabi, and Kohat.

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Haji Ghulam Ali also offered funeral prayers at Police Lines Peshawar. He prayed for higher ranks of the martyred souls and patience for the bereaved families.

Meanwhile, Rescue 1122 spokesman Bilal Ahmad Faizi told Radio Pakistan that teams have taken out more than twenty-two dead bodies and two injured since midnight.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Caretaker Chief Minister Muhammad Azam Khan has announced one-day mourning in the province after the sorrowful mosque blast in Peshawar.
