ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to inaugurate the main campus of the National University of Technology in Islamabad today, with the aim of bolstering the country’s industrial base and promoting technical education.

This significant event underscores the government’s commitment to advancing modern education and empowering the youth with the necessary skills to excel in the international workforce.

Simultaneously, the Prime Minister will also unveil the Youth Skill Development Program, a visionary initiative aimed at equipping young individuals with the training required to effectively compete on the global stage.

With the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) spearheading this endeavour, over 250,000 youths will receive vocational training in cutting-edge skills over the course of the next four years. This ambitious program, supported by both local and international partners, carries a price tag of 19.33 billion rupees, underscoring the government’s dedication to nurturing a skilled workforce that meets the demands of a rapidly evolving economy.

In line with the nation’s drive to generate affordable and eco-friendly electricity, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will also lay the foundation stone of the Chashma 5 nuclear power plant today. This momentous occasion represents a significant step toward realizing the vision of sustainable energy production in the country.

The cost of the project has witnessed a remarkable reduction, while its capacity has been increased from 1100 MW to 1200 MW. It is worth noting that the Chashma-5 project, whose contract was signed in 2017, has faced delays over the past five years, making the recommencement of work under the Prime Minister’s leadership all the more remarkable.

The inauguration of the National University of Technology’s main campus and the unveiling of the Youth Skill Development Program serve as significant milestones toward fostering a prosperous and technologically advanced future for Pakistan. By prioritizing quality education, technical training, and sustainable energy, the government is paving the way for a nation that is at the forefront of innovation and global competitiveness.
