ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued predictions of snowfall and torrential rain in Murree, effective from today, as cold weather intensifies across northern and upper regions of the country.

According to a weather forecasting officer, there is a 70 percent likelihood of snowfall in Murree, with weather conditions expected to remain uncertain until February 22.

Heavy snowfall and continuous rainfall have already impacted tourist spots in Neelum Valley, resulting in slippery conditions on Neelum Highway and connecting roads, leading to disruptions in traffic flow.

In response to the prevailing situation, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has implemented administrative measures in Murree to address the challenges posed by inclement weather.

The PDMA has noted a partial cloud cover over Punjab, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa today, with the possibility of rain in these regions as well.

As the cold weather persists and snowfall forecasts materialize, authorities advise residents and travelers to exercise caution, particularly in areas prone to slippery conditions and disruptions in transportation.

Tourists planning visits to Murree are urged to stay informed about weather updates and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during the expected snowfall period.

The PDMA and relevant authorities remain vigilant in monitoring weather developments and implementing necessary measures to mitigate potential risks and ensure public safety in affected areas.
