PMD Predicts More Monsoon Rains from August 14 Across Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Monday forecast more monsoon rains from Wednesday which would continue till August 18.

Monsoon winds are likely to enter upper and middle areas of the country, as per the Met Office, adding that the fresh rain spell would take place along with storms and lightning.

The weather office said the coastal areas of Sindh are expected to have a partially cloudy atmosphere as light rains may occur.

Islamabad, Rawalpindi and other areas of Punjab will likely receive rain from August 14 till August 18.

The met office said rain along with strong winds have been predicted in Murree, Galyat, Chakwal, Gujranwala, Gujrat, while Faisalabad, Hafizabad, Jhang, Lahore, Nankana Sahib, Narowal, Okara and Pakpattan, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Sahiwal and Wazirabad will also experience rain shower.

Additionally, rain with thunder and lightning may also occur in Kasur, Khushab and Sargodha. The areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will also experience rain showers with thunder and lightning from August 14 to 18.

Abbottabad, Bajaur, Buner, Bannu, Chitral, Charsadda, Dera Ismail Khan, Dir, Haripur, Hangu, Kurram, Orakzai, Mansehra, Mardan, Peshawar and Swat are among the areas where rain showers may take place.

Furthermore, rain showers will also occur in areas of Balochistan and Gilgit Baltistan from August 15 to 18.

Notably, an unusual monsoon season was predicted by the PMD this year for Pakistan.
