ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast continued rain, windstorms and thundershowers across Pakistan during the next 24 hours.
Heavy rain may also occur in northeast Punjab, Pothohar region, northeast/south Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir during the period.
According to the synoptic situation, monsoon currents are entering from the Bay of Bengal in the upper/eastern parts of Pakistan and are likely to penetrate in central and southern parts of the country.
The PDM warned that heavy rain may generate flash flooding in local streams of Kashmir, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Koh Sulaiman and adjoining hilly areas of northeast Balochistan and northeast Punjab on July 29 and July 30.
Urban flooding may also occur in the low-lying areas of the northeast and south Punjab, Karachi, and Peshawar, including lower Sindh during the forecast period.
During the last 24 hours, rain-windstorm/thundershowers with isolated heavy rainfall occurred in Islamabad, northeast Punjab, Potohar region, upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, southeastern Sindh, Kashmir and northeast Balochistan.
The rainfall recorded during the last 24 hours was Punjab: Rawalpindi (Chaklala 81mm, Shamsabad 68, Kacheri 56), Islamabad (Saidpur 57, Golra 54, Zero Point 39, Bokra 38, Airport 10), Mandi Bahauddin 30, Sargodha 43, Jhang, Murree 24, Mangla 12, Khanpur 18, Noor Pur Thal 15, Attock 08, Faisalabad 07, Joharabad, Toba Tek Singh, Chakwal, Narowal 01, Sindh: Chhor 58, Badin, Mithi 01, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Kakul 43, Balakot 05, Malam Jabba 02, Kashmir: Muzaffarabad (City 27, Airport 13), Kotli 17, Garhi Dupatta 03, Balochistan: Lasbela 11, Kalat 05 and Panjgur 01mm.
The maximum temperatures recorded in the country at Sibbi 47C, Dalbandin, Nokkundi 46 and Dadu 45C.
