PML-N Leader Amir Muqam Escapes in Terrorist Attack in Northwest Pakistan

PESHAWAR: Adviser to the PM on Political and Public Affairs Eng. Amir Muqam remained unhurt in a terrorist attack on him in Martung area of Shangla of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday.

Local media reported that Amir Muqam was attacked by the militants during a tour to his hometown for attending a public gathering meeting and the inauguration of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) office.

Dawn reported that Amir Muqam said that he escaped in a potential ambush from armed men in Shangla district. An exchange of fire also took place between the attackers and the police following which the terrorists fled the scene.

Eng. Amir Muqam described terrorists as enemies of the nation and said Pakistan could achieve goals of development and stability “only by eradicating the terrorism,”. It may be recalled that Amir Muqam was attacked at the same spot in 2014.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned attack on Eng. Amir Muqam in Martong area of Shangla. He lauded Amir Muqam for his bravery.

PML-N Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz also denounced the attack while also expressing relief that Amir Muqam was safe.
