ISLAMABAD: According to a public opinion survey conducted by IRIS Communications, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has witnessed a significant increase in popularity among potential voters across Punjab, reaching 43 percent. Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) has witnessed a decline in popularity, dropping from 43 percent to 35 percent.
The survey, conducted across Punjab from February 2023 to January 2024, aimed to gauge public sentiments and preferences as the country approaches the General Elections scheduled for February 8. Central Punjab emerged as a crucial factor influencing PML-N’s popularity, as the party’s support increased from 31 percent in February/March 2023 to 43 percent in January 2024 across Punjab.
A majority of respondents, i.e., 51 percent, predicted that PML-N is poised to form the next government after the upcoming elections in Pakistan. More than half of those surveyed expressed confidence in the party’s ability to lead the nation.
The survey also shed light on the changing political landscape, revealing shifts in the rankings of political parties from February/March 2023 to January 2024. While PML-N experienced a notable rise, PTI faced a decrease in support, indicating a potential challenge for the party in the upcoming elections.

A significant majority, comprising 54 percent of participants, believed that stability is the key to overcoming the current issues.
In terms of pressing concerns, 76 percent of respondents identified inflation as the major issue facing Pakistan. This sentiment aligns with the general consensus that political stability is essential for achieving prosperity, as declared by participants during the survey.
