Pneumonia Claims 12 More Lives in Punjab During 24 Hours

ISLAMABAD: Pneumonia continues to pose a significant threat in the Punjab region, with an additional 12 children losing their lives to the disease in the last 24 hours, as reported by the provincial health department.

The age range of the children who succumbed to pneumonia during this period varied from two months to 12 years, according to updates on Tuesday.

Over the past day, Punjab has recorded 491 new cases of pneumonia, with Lahore alone confirming 230 cases among children. With Lahore alone reporting 1,546 cases and 45 related deaths, the overall number of pneumonia cases reported in Punjab for the year increased to 9,321.

Pneumonia, characterized by infection and inflammation in the air sacs of the lungs, remains a grave health issue. Symptoms such as cough with phlegm or pus, fever, chills, and breathing difficulties can lead to severe consequences.
