RAWALPINDI: A newly commissioned Pakistan Navy ship, Hunain, has set sail from Romania on a maiden journey to Pakistan, the military’s media wing said on Saturday. According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Fleet Commander of the Romanian Navy visited PNS Hunain and met the Commanding Officer and bid farewell with best wishes.  The ISPR said that PNS Hunain has also held joint exercise with Romanian ship Lastunul at the sea.  According to the ISPR, Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) HUNAIN is the third of four offshore patrol vessels (OPVs) being constructed at the DAMEN naval shipyard in Romania.

PNS Hunain is a multi-role, ultra-fast warship equipped with terminal defense systems as well as advanced electronic warfare, anti-ship and anti-air warfare capabilities.  The ship is also capable of embarking multirole helicopters and can operate independently. The induction of the ship will further enhance Pakistan Navy’s presence and perpetual operational readiness on Regional Maritime Security Patrols in the Indian Ocean Region.
