WARSAW: Poland has advised its citizens against travelling to Lebanon, Israel and Iran, amid fears of wider Middle East conflict, said an updated guidance published on Friday.

“In connection with a growing number of Polish tourists visiting Lebanon, Israel and Iran, we want to repeat that we have long advised against any kind of travel to this region,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on the social media platform X.

“The unstable security situation makes it possible to believe that it will be more and more difficult to leave the three countries,” the ministry added.

Earlier on Friday, Polish airline LOT announced cancellation of eight flights to Lebanon and Israel due to the security situation.

Many international airlines are avoiding Iranian and Lebanese airspace and canceled flights to Israel and Lebanon, as fears grow over a possible regional conflict after the assassination of senior members of Hamas and Hezbollah this week.

Earlier, France had also asked its citizens visiting Iran to leave immediately, after Tehran accused Israel of killing Hamas leader on its soil, sparking regional tensions.

“Due to the increased risk of a military escalation in the region, visiting French nationals still in Iran are invited to leave as soon as possible,” the foreign ministry said.

The killing of Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh in an attack on Wednesday in Tehran has aggravated fears of a regional conflict.
