SUKKUR: A total of 30 police officer were punished with some losing jobs after they were found involved in smuggling of Iranian oil and non-custom-paid vehicles in the region, local media reported.

In what is considered as a significant development, authorities in Sukkur took action against illegal activities related to Iranian oil and the smuggling of non-custom-paid vehicles in the area.

The crackdown led to the suspension of 30 police officers from their duties, with forced retirements also as a departmental action.

However, after a thorough inquiry by the Anti-Corruption Department, four police officers were reinstated due to the lack of evidence supporting the allegations against them.

Following the inquiry, a final order was issued to reinstate the suspended police officers.

Remarkably, 15 officers faced forced retirement, and an equal number were dismissed from their positions.

The affected officers include officials from various ranks, such as ASIs, head constables, sub-inspectors, and constables. The decision to suspend these officers was taken last year, pending further investigation and reports by the Anti-Corruption Department.
