ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Health on Monday confirmed the presence of Poliovirus in environmental samples from 9 districts of Pakistan.
Ministry of Health spokesperson said in a statement that the virus was found in one sample each from Multan, Peshawar, Quetta, Mastung, Nowshera, and Hab.
The Poliovirus was also found in samples from Karachi South, Karachi Malir, and D.I. Khan.
He said that the virus found in all the samples came from across the border.
Polio Prevention
He further said that the only way to prevent transmission of the virus is the polio vaccine.
The spokesperson added that children can be protected from disability by vaccination against polio.
Parents must inculcate their children under five years of age with the polio vaccine, he said.
