ISLAMABAD: Pomfret is a saltwater fish with a distinctive flavor, especially when coated in a batter made from rice flour and all-purpose flour, spiced with cumin and red pepper. The pomfret is then deep-fried to create a delightful treat for the taste buds.
Ingredients:
- 2 pieces of Pomfret fish
- Cooking oil (as needed)
- 4 tbsp rice flour
- ½ tsp yellow food color
- 4 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp corn flour
- Salt (to taste)
- 1 tsp crushed red chilli
- ¼ tsp ajwain (carom seeds)
- ½ tsp whole cumin
- 1 tsp crushed black pepper
- ½ tsp cumin powder
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp ginger & garlic paste
- 1 egg
Method:
- Make cuts on the fish.
- In a bowl, combine rice flour, yellow food colour, all-purpose flour, corn flour, salt, crushed red chilli, ajwain, whole cumin, crushed black pepper, cumin powder, lemon juice, ginger & garlic paste, and the egg and mix it well.
- Coat the fish with this paste and refrigerate for an hour.
- Deep fry the fish in cooking oil until golden brown.
