Pomfret Fish Fry Recipe

ISLAMABAD: Pomfret is a saltwater fish with a distinctive flavor, especially when coated in a batter made from rice flour and all-purpose flour, spiced with cumin and red pepper. The pomfret is then deep-fried to create a delightful treat for the taste buds.

Ingredients:

  • 2 pieces of Pomfret fish
  • Cooking oil (as needed)
  • 4 tbsp rice flour
  • ½ tsp yellow food color
  • 4 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp corn flour
  • Salt (to taste)
  • 1 tsp crushed red chilli
  • ¼ tsp ajwain (carom seeds)
  • ½ tsp whole cumin
  • 1 tsp crushed black pepper
  • ½ tsp cumin powder
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp ginger & garlic paste
  • 1 egg

Method:

  1. Make cuts on the fish.
  2. In a bowl, combine rice flour, yellow food colour, all-purpose flour, corn flour, salt, crushed red chilli, ajwain, whole cumin, crushed black pepper, cumin powder, lemon juice, ginger & garlic paste, and the egg and mix it well.
  3. Coat the fish with this paste and refrigerate for an hour.
  4. Deep fry the fish in cooking oil until golden brown.

Your delicious Fried Pomfret Fish is now ready to serve.
