ISLAMABAD: The government of Pakistan on Friday allocated portfolios to the newly sworn-in federal ministers, special assistants, and advisers.
The Cabinet Division has issued the notification of the allocation of the portfolios. According to the document Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has been appointed as the Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, while Ali Pervaiz Malik was named as the Federal Minister for Petroleum.
Hanif Abbasi has been appointed as the Federal Minister for Railways and Mustafa Kamal taking charge of the Ministry of Health while Khalid Hussain Magsi will serve as Minister for Science and Technology.
Muhammad Munir Wattoo has been appointed as the Federal Minister for Water Resources, while Aurangzeb Khichi will head the Ministry of National Heritage and Culture.
Similarly, Muhammad Junaid Anwar has been entrusted with the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, and Raza Hayat Hiraj will serve as the Minister for Defence Production.
In a major reshuffle of the cabinet Shaza Fatima Khawaja has been appointed as the Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunications.
Rana Mubashar Iqbal will be the Federal Minister for the Public Affairs Unit, while Rashid Ahmad Khan has become the Minister for Food Security and Research.
Abdul Rehman Kanju has been appointed as the Minister of State for Power, with the additional charge of the Public Affairs Unit. Bilal Azhar Kayani has been designated as the Minister of State for Railways, and Aqeel Malik has been appointed as the Minister of State for Law and Justice.
Khail Das Kohistani has been appointed as the Minister of State for Religious Affairs, while Aoun Chaudhry will be the Minister of State for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Development.
Talal Chaudhry has been assigned the portfolio of Minister of State for Interior and Narcotics Control, and Wajiha Qamar named as the Minister of State for Education and Training.
Furthermore, Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer has been given the additional portfolio of the Ministry of Human Rights.
Musaddiq Malik has been appointed as the Federal Minister for Climate Change while Khawaja Asif will continue to hold the Ministry of Defence, while Attaullah Tarar will be the Minister for Information, and Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui will be the Federal Minister for Education.
Rana Tanveer Hussain has been appointed as the Federal Minister for Food Security, and Chaudhry Salik Hussain assigned the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Development. Abdul Aleem Khan has been given the Ministry of Communications, while Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh has been assigned the Ministry for the Investment Board.
Pervez Khattak has been appointed as adviser to PM on Interior while Mohammad Ali has been named as an adviser on privatisation.
Earlier on February 27, President Asif Ali Zardari administered the oath to 12 federal ministers, 9 ministers of state, and 3 advisers.
The government has expressed confidence that the newly appointed ministers will work diligently to address key national challenges and improve governance.
