KARACHI: Chairman Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has constituted provincial parliamentary boards of the party to decide tickets for the general election in January likely to be held next year.

Separate parliamentary boards for the four provinces of the country will decide about the PPP candidates for general elections. The boards will recommend candidates to the party chairman for awarding the party ticket, who will decide on the recommendations.

The party’s parliamentary board of Central Punjab will comprise of Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Hassan Murtaza, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Chaudhry Manzoor, Rana Farooq Saeed, Faisal Saleh Hayat and others.

Amid controversy over the time of elections, the Election Commission of Pakistan Thursday announced that general elections would be held in the last week of January 2024. The political parties were vehemently demanding of the ECP to announce the election date but it didn’t give a certain date for the purpose, drawing a mix reaction from the political parties.
