ISLAMABAD: The PPP (Pakistan People Party) suspended the party membership of the ex-governor of Punjab and senior leader of the party Sardar Latif Khosa on Friday and expelled him from its central executive committee (CEC).

PPP Secretary General Nayyar Bukhari confirmed the news adding that the decision was taken after Latif Khosa failed to reply to the show-cause notice issued to him by the party on September 14.

The show cause notice sough a reply from the prominent lawyer for defending/pleading cases of the head of another political party without prior approval of the leadership from his affiliated party PPP.

A couple of days before, Latif Khosa responded to media, that he was a professional lawyer and he didn’t need permission from anyone to exercise his professional obligations.

Meanwhile, the show cause did not mention anyone by name, however, it is obvious Khosa is defending cases of PTI Chairman Imran Khan for the last couple of weeks.

Show-Cause Notice to Latif Khosa

The show-cause notice being issued stated as, “You being a member of the central executive committee are defending/pleading/representing a head of another political party without prior approval of leadership…you criticized the state policy regarding the cipher”.

The notice further asked Khosa to clarify his position within seven days, failing which disciplinary action would be taken against him.

This was the second notice, being sent to Khosa, as he received one before for issuing a statement in favour of the PTI chief Imran Khan.
