Prague University Gun Rampage: 10 Killed, Suspect Shot Dead

PRAGUE: Czech police on Thursday said a gunman had killed 10 people at a university in capital Prague before being shot dead.

The police in a statement on social media platform X, formerly Twitter said the gunman was eliminated.

It added the premises is currently being evacuated and there are several dead and dozens of wounded people on the scene.

According to Czech media the shooting took place at the Charles University Faculty of Arts whose teachers and students were asked to lock themselves up as police action was under way.

A private TV channel has also reported a blast and a gunman on the roof of the building in Prague’s historic centre.

Interior Minister Vit Rakusan of Czech Republic talking to local media denied the presence of the other gunman and asked the people to follow police instructions.

Meanwhile, Czech President Petr Pavel expressed his shock at Thursday’s shooting. Pavel in a statement on X said that he was shocked by the events while he also expressed his deep regret and sincere condolences to the families and relatives of the victims claimed by the shooting.
