President Acknowledges Minorities’ Role in Country’s Development

ISLAMABAD: President Dr. Arif Alvi on Friday acknowledged the vital role of minorities in the country’s development.

In a speech commemorating the International Day of Minorities, he emphasized the importance of minorities in nation-building. He stated that everyone has the right to political, economic, and social freedoms regardless of race or religious beliefs.

He added that our religion Islam had taught us to protect minorities’ rights and treat all people with equality.

To secure the welfare of minorities and to promote their active involvement in the political and economic development of the country, President Alvi said Pakistan always takes the necessary precautions. He also reaffirmed his steadfast commitment to uphold the minorities’ legal, social, economic, and political rights.

He said Pakistan would continue to work for the welfare and protection of the fundamental rights of minorities.

The president appealed to the media and religious scholars to create mass awareness about minorities’ rights and promote a love, peace, and unity culture.

He said, “I firmly believe that the minorities would continue their key role in the country’s development.” —APP
