President Alvi Advocates for Women’s Empowerment In Health And Education

ISLAMABAD: President Dr. Arif Alvi emphasized the crucial role of health and education in empowering women during his address at the 5th edition of the HUM Women Leaders Award 2024.

He stressed the importance of providing a harassment-free environment for women to enable their participation in the workforce and contribute to economic growth.

President Alvi also highlighted the rights of women, citing the saying of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) regarding the honor bestowed upon those who raise daughters.

Furthermore, President Alvi condemned acts of genocide, particularly those committed by Israeli forces in Gaza, emphasizing the loss of innocent lives, including women and children.

Despite challenges, he expressed confidence in Pakistan’s ability to overcome obstacles, citing the collective efforts that led to the country’s success in combating the COVID-19 pandemic.

President Alvi lamented the high number of out-of-school children in Pakistan and advocated for a focus on health and education sectors, citing the successful poverty alleviation efforts in China. He urged unity to address various challenges, including poverty and maternal and neonatal deaths.

First Lady Samina Alvi applauded the efforts of organizers in recognizing and encouraging women’s contributions in various fields. She encouraged women to take advantage of banking facilities for setting up businesses.

The Women Leaders Awards ceremony, organized annually by Hum Television, aimed to honor women leaders and entrepreneurs who have overcome obstacles and excelled in their respective fields.
