President Alvi Offers Mediation to Resolve Pakistan’s Political Stalemate

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s President Dr Arif Alvi, has once again offered his services in his personal capacity to mediate amongst stakeholders to develop consensus on major issues.

In an interview with BBC, President Alvi emphasized the need to bring the political temperature down to improve the economy.

The President reiterated that the stakeholders, including PTI and coalition government, should pursue their political objectives and find solutions to issues within the confines of democratic means of discussion, talks, consultation, and deliberation.

President Alvi stressed the need to develop consensus on some matters for stability in the country.

President Alvi reminds stakeholders of responsibility 

He said it is the stakeholders’ responsibility to steer the country out of dire straits.

The President said the coalition government and the PTI should sit together and hold dialogue, stressing cooperation is better than differences.

Responding to a question, Dr. Arif Alvi said the government is working to pull the country out of the economic crisis.

He was confident that the next rounds of negotiations with the IMF would bear positive results.
