President Arif Alvi has signed the summary of appointing new Army Chief Lt Gen Asim Munir and Lt Gen Sahir Shamshad as Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee.
The summary was sent to President Arif Alvi by the Prime Minister for approval today.
It should be remembered that the summary regarding the appointment of the new Army Chief by Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif was sent to President Dr. Arif Alvi after the approval of the cabinet meeting.
Lt Gen Asim Munir is currently the most senior general, he was promoted to the rank of 2-star general in September 2018.
Lieutenant General Sahir Shamshad Mirza was appointed as the Rawalpindi Corps Commander in October 2021. The Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee is an inter-services forum, which acts as a liaison between the three forces.
