ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi on Tuesday bestowed the civil award of Nishan-i-Pakistan on Dr Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, the Head of the Dawoodi Bohra Community, in recognition of his services for Pakistan in the realms of spiritual guidance and social services.
The investiture ceremony, held at the Aiwan-e-Sard, was graced by the presence of federal cabinet members and representatives from the Bohra community. The citation, presented before the award’s conferment, highlighted Dr Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin’s role as the 53rd Dai-e-Mutlaq, leading followers across the globe, with a significant number hailing from Pakistan.
Notably, Dr. Saifuddin has demonstrated a deep commitment to Pakistan, advocating for principles of peace, harmony, and goodwill. His impactful contributions to education include the establishment of the School of Law at the University of Karachi and the initiation of a university project. Additionally, under his leadership, numerous healthcare institutions named after the Bohra community have been providing accessible healthcare services to the public.
Dr. Saifuddin’s environmental stewardship was underscored, with his followers having planted over 100,000 trees across different regions of Pakistan in recent years. Launching the global initiative ‘Project Rise,’ he has extended efforts into various domains such as healthcare, nutrition, sanitation, hygiene, environmental conservation, and education.
Encouraging active participation in Pakistan’s socioeconomic advancement, Dr. Saifuddin urged his followers to explore business opportunities in the country. Furthermore, he promoted the development of an extensive network of schemes offering interest-free loans, demonstrating a commitment to fostering economic progress and community welfare.
