ISLAMABAD: President Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Shahbaz Shareef and Senate Sadiq Chairman Sanjrani on Monday expressed grief and sorrow over the death of the world-renowned host, director, and actor Zia Mohyeddin.
They expressed deep grief over the death of the legendary icon of literature and art, calling it a loss of a towering talented personality.
In their separate condolence messages, the president and the prime minister paid glowing tribute to Zia Mohyeddin for his contribution to art, literature, performing arts, acting, direction, and production.
President Alvi said Zia Mohyeddin was an outstanding orator
President Alvi said Zia Mohyeddin was an exceptional orator who used to read prose and poetry excellently. Terming the death of Mohyeddin a personal loss, the president said his talented personality would be long remembered.
Prime Minister Sharif said Zia Mohyeddin had a distinctive oratory style
Prime Minister Sharif said Zia Mohyeddin had a distinctive oratory style, adding that his voice would continue to resonate in the minds. He said that as president of the National Academy of Performing Arts, Mohyeddin played a significant role in training new artists.
Sadiq Sanjrani said the services of Zia Mohyeddin in art and literature would always be remembered. “May Allah Almighty grant the deceased high ranks in His mercy and the bereaved the courage to bear this shock with patience and courage,” he prayed.
Senator Ishaq Dar, Deputy Chairman Senate, Senator Mirza Muhammad Afridi, and Senator Dr. Shahzad Wasim also expressed their condolences over the death of Zia Mohyeddin. The senators, in their messages, expressed their heartfelt sympathies to his bereaved family.
Before the Senate’s proceedings began, Senator Hidayatullah Khan of the Awami National Party led a group prayer for the deceased. He prayed for eternal peace in the hereafter and the elevation of the ranks of the deceased soul.
