ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has announced the convening of a joint session of Parliament scheduled for the 16th of this month at 4:00 pm.
According to a press release issued on Monday from the President’s House, this significant move is in line with the constitutional provisions outlined in Articles 54 (1) and 56 (3).
Article 56 (3) of the Constitution specifies that the President is required to address a joint session of Parliament at the commencement of the parliamentary year after general elections.
This constitutional mandate underscores the importance of parliamentary oversight and the role of the President in articulating the government’s agenda and priorities to the nation’s representatives.
