Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s Directives for Pakistani Ambassador in Kyrgyzstan

ISLAMBAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif recently held a crucial telephone conversation with Pakistan’s Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, Hasan Ali Zaigham, addressing the welfare and safety of Pakistani students in Kyrgyzstan.

The Prime Minister directed Ambassador Zaigham to coordinate necessary arrangements for a special plane to repatriate Pakistani students from Kyrgyzstan. Acting swiftly on the Prime Minister’s instructions, the special plane is scheduled to depart for Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, this evening, with a planned return to Pakistan at night, transporting approximately 130 Pakistani students. Importantly, all expenses related to the special aircraft will be covered by the Government of Pakistan.

In addition to facilitating the students’ return, Prime Minister Sharif emphasized the importance of maintaining regular communication with Pakistani students and their families in Kyrgyzstan, ensuring their well-being and providing necessary support.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister prioritized the repatriation of injured Pakistani students, directing authorities to ensure their prompt return to Pakistan. Additionally, arrangements are to be made for the return of students accompanied by their family members residing in Kyrgyzstan, emphasizing the urgency of their repatriation.

Ambassador Zaigham briefed the Prime Minister on his meeting with Kyrgyz Deputy Foreign Minister Ayvazbek Atakhanov, highlighting the assurances provided by the Kyrgyz government regarding the security and safety of Pakistani and other foreign students. The situation in Kyrgyzstan has been reported as under control, with heightened security measures in place to safeguard the students.

Even amid the stabilizing situation, Prime Minister Sharif emphasized that any Pakistani student desiring to return home should be facilitated with all necessary support and facilities.

It is noteworthy that apart from the special plane arranged by the Government of Pakistan, some Pakistani students are expected to arrive in Pakistan today via two commercial flights.

This proactive response from the Prime Minister’s office underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring the welfare and safety of Pakistani students abroad, reaffirming Pakistan’s dedication to supporting its citizens in times of need.
