NEW DELHI: Khalistani separatist and Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) founder Gurpatwant Singh Pannun has asked Kashmiri Muslims residing in the Valley to go to Delhi and disrupt the upcoming G20 Summit.

The two-day summit will be held in New Delhi on September 9-10 after Friday prayers. Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a Khalistani separatist, recorded an audio message to make a passionate appeal in this regard.

He also asked people to march to Pragati Maidan, the venue for the summit. He also threatened to hoist the Khalistani flag at Delhi’s IGI airport.

The appeal comes just days after several metro stations across Delhi were defaced with pro-Khalistan graffiti. Local police also arrested two people associated with the SFJ over anti-India slogans. The officials said the slogans were written at the behest of Gurupatwant Singh Pannu.

Slogans such as ‘Khalistan Referendum Zindabad’ and ‘Delhi Banega Khalistan’ were found sprayed in black on the walls of metro stations, including Shivaji Park, Punjabi Bagh, Madipur, Udyog Nagar, Paschim Vihar, Maharaja Surajmal Stadium and Nangloi — all located in west Delhi.

The authorities linked the audio message by Pannun with the K2 (Kashmir-Khalistan) agenda.

G20 summit

Leaders of the G20 forum — except Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping — would be arriving in Delhi soon to take part in the summit which will continue for two days. It is the first time that the G20 Summit is being held in New Delhi.

Around 1,30,000 security personnel will be deployed as part of the security arrangements to ensure no infiltration, terror act or sabotage takes place, according to the Delhi Police. Authorities will also use Artificial Intelligence (AI) modules to ensure fool-proof security at the event venues.
