NEW DELHI: During the ICC Cricket World Cup final between India and Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, a pro-Palestine protester managed to breach security and enter the ground. The person, clad in a Palestinian flag mask and a T-shirt with the slogans “Free Palestine” and “Stop Bombing Palestine,” approached star Indian batsman Virat Kohli on the crease.
Images shared by Asian News International captured the moment as security personnel immediately intervened and removing the protester from the field.
Israeli Military Brutalities in Palestine
The incident comes amid heightened global attention on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, with the protester using the high-profile cricket match as a platform to advocate for the freedom of Palestine and an end to Israeli airstrikes and brutalities against Palestinian civilians.
Israel’s ongoing offensive in Gaza has resulted in a significant loss of life and widespread destruction, with thousands of buildings, including hospitals, mosques, and churches, being damaged or destroyed. The conflict has sparked international calls for a ceasefire, but Israel has rejected such appeals until the release of hostages held by Hamas.
