LONDON: Pro-Palestinian Activists on Wednesday held a sit-in demonstration in Parliament to demand a permanent truce in the Gaza Strip. The protest was organized by a UK-based pro-Palestinian activist organization.
In a statement, the Palestine Solidarity Campaign stated that several activists timed the protest in Central Hall, Westminster, to accord with PM’s Questions.
According to the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC), the protest rally sought to draw attention to the need for a permanent truce to bring an end to Israel’s indiscriminate bombardment of civilian population in the Gaza Strip “and to create the conditions to start to address the root causes of the current conflict, including action to end the siege of the Gaza Strip.”
Earlier today we held a sit in at parliament.
Whilst the temporary truce is welcome it is not a solution. We won’t stray from our demands. We demand a permanent #CeasefireNOW, a lift of the siege of Gaza and an end to Israeli occupation and Apartheid. #FreePalestine pic.twitter.com/JhiUdOwRrL

Pro-Palestinian Activists Hold Protest in UK Parliament to Demand Permanent Truce in Gaza
Under Wednesday’s temporary truce agreement, Hamas and Israel agreed to a four-day pause in fighting to permit the release of fifty captives held in the Gaza Strip in exchange for 150 Palestinian prisoners in Israel, and the entry of humanitarian help into Gaza.

The Palestine Solidarity Campaign earlier on Wednesday issued a separate statement welcoming the “temporary cease-fire,” but stated that “a four-day respite will not end the killing of civilian population, nor will it be long enough to address the humanitarian disaster in Gaza caused by 46 days of relentless bombardment and ground assaults, which have killed more than 14,000 Palestinian people including children and women.”
