Promoting Cotton Cultivation: Mega Seminar in Bahawalpur

BAHAWALPUR: Under the patronage of the Agriculture Department (Extension), Government of Punjab, a significant cotton seminar convened in Bahawalpur, emphasizing the pivotal role of cotton cultivation.

The seminar, graced by esteemed dignitaries including the Secretary of the Agriculture Department, Government of Punjab, Saqib Ali Aateel, and Member of the National Assembly, Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar, aimed to illuminate the importance of cotton sowing and its economic significance for farmers.

In his address, the Secretary of Agriculture underscored cotton’s status as a cash crop, stressing the need for farmers to capitalize on its financial benefits. He highlighted the efforts of the Agriculture Department in promoting Integrated Pest Management (IPM) models and modern agricultural technologies to enhance cotton production.

Furthermore, he lauded the Punjab government’s substantial financial package dedicated to supporting farmers, reflecting the administration’s commitment to agricultural prosperity.

During the seminar, it was revealed that cotton cultivation is projected to cover an extensive area of 1,869,000 acres in Bahawalpur division, signifying the region’s significant contribution to the cotton industry’s growth.

The seminar served as a platform to foster dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders, paving the way for enhanced agricultural practices and sustainable cotton cultivation in the region.
