KARACHI:  The United Arab Emirates has issued a warning to Pakistani citizens in the country, stating that if they are found spreading propaganda against Pakistan, its institutions, or leadership, they will not be granted visas of the UAE. Bakheet Ateeq al-Remeithi, the UAE’s Consul General in Karachi, urged Pakistanis to avoid disseminating propaganda, noting that some elements living or visiting the country had been noticed on social media, leading to their arrests and sentences ranging from 14 to 15 years in jail.

The Consul General mentioned that more than five Pakistanis had been sentenced to life imprisonment, and most were deported. He stated, “People should avoid sharing or forwarding any negative and false content on social media,” adding, “Strict action will be taken against the culprits as per law.”

He highlighted that the UAE is home to citizens from around 200 countries of various nationalities living in peace, with the Pakistani population in the UAE exceeding 1.8 million.

In response to a question, the envoy clarified that there are no restrictions on UAE visas for Pakistanis. He stated, “Not only visas are being issued to Pakistanis, but all possible facilities are also being provided to them at the Consulate,”. He lauded the beauty of Pakistan’s northern areas and suggested people to visit these destinations before traveling to Dubai.
