Islamabad: The tentative schedule for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has been unveiled.
As per the schedule, the tournament is due to commence on February 19.
According to Geo Supper, Pakistan is set to host the international event after the resolution of a standoff with India over match venues.
The tournament’s opening match will be played between Pakistan and New Zealand at the National Stadium in Karachi.
Venue of Pakistan vs India Match
Dubai has been finalised as the neutral venue for India’s matches in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
The tournament is scheduled to kick off on February 19, 2025, offering thrilling cricket battles among the world’s leading teams.
The competition, hosted by Pakistan will see eight teams playing in two groups.
According to a Cricinfo report, neutral venues will also be used for Pakistan’s matches in ICC tournaments that India hosts till 2027.
Knockout stages
The proposed plan suggests that one semi-final will be held in Lahore, while the other will take place at a neutral venue.
Final
The event’s final will be played in Lahore on 9 March.
In case India qualifies for the final, the match will be moved to a neutral venue.
According to officials, the move aims to address logistical and diplomatic considerations.
Neutral venue policy
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has adopted a neutral venue policy for matches between India and Pakistan during the 2024-2027 rights cycle.
The policy also encompasses the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 in India, and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka.
It will also apply to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2028, which Pakistan will host.
The ICC is expected to announce the finalised schedule for the event soon.
