SRINAGAR: Kashmiris in the Poonch district of the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) staged protest demonstrations to denounce the custodial killing of a young Kashmiri man at a police detention center in the Surankot area.

As reported by Kashmir Media Service, a significant number of protesters, including the victim, Ulfat Hussain’s family members, relatives, and fellow villagers, marched in protest, urging a thorough investigation into the incident. Ulfat Hussain lost his life after being subjected to torture while in police custody a few days ago.

In Srinagar, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference spokesperson issued a statement condemning the tragic custodial killing of the youth. They called for an impartial inquiry into the circumstances of his death, emphasizing that such incidents should not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Furthermore, personnel from the Counter-Intelligence Kashmir unit, in conjunction with Indian paramilitary forces, conducted raids on the residences of pro-freedom activists in several districts of the Kashmir valley, including Kupwara, Srinagar, Islamabad, and Pulwama.

Meanwhile, a Border Security Force Head Constable from India took his own life with his service weapon in Kupwara after learning of his wife’s suicide in the Indian state of Rajasthan.
