LAHORE, Pakistan: Multan Sultans overcame a slow start and early losses to post a competitive total of 185 for three in their allotted 20 overs, setting a challenging 186-run target for Lahore Qalandars in the 16th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Saturday.
After Lahore Qalandars’ captain Shaheen Shah Afridi won the toss and elected to field first, the Qalandars’ bowlers initially made good use of the conditions under the evening lights.
Shaheen, exploiting late movement and extra bounce, troubled the Multan openers with a fiery new-ball spell, repeatedly beating Mohammad Rizwan and making run-scoring difficult for Yasir Khan.

The early breakthrough came in the fifth over when Haris Rauf dismissed Yasir Khan, who had looked promising with a six and a four, but eventually fell for 24 off 18 deliveries, miscuing a pull shot to deep square leg.
Usman Khan struggled early in his innings, while Rizwan was also slow to get off the mark.
Building partnership
However, Rizwan soon found his rhythm, reaching a composed half-century with consecutive boundaries, showcasing his class with powerful pulls and a commanding drive.
He stabilised the innings before Kamran Ghulam added impetus, striking a massive six over long-on and running hard between the wickets to maintain the momentum.

Lahore continued to chip away at the batting line-up. Tom Curran made an important breakthrough by dismissing Shai Hope with a cleverly disguised back-of-the-hand slower ball that jagged in sharply.
Daryl Mitchell also contributed with the ball, removing Usman Khan just as he began to look threatening.
Despite these setbacks, the Sultans managed to rebuild and finish strongly, thanks to Rizwan’s assured innings and valuable contributions from the middle order.
Their total of 186 sets up what promises to be an exciting chase for Lahore Qalandars under the lights at Gaddafi Stadium.
