RAWALPINDI: Quetta Gladiators will take on Karachi Kings today in the 22nd fixture of the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi.

Today’s contest between Quetta and Karachi, who sit at the bottom two places, will be an effort to avoid the humiliation of finishing last rather than climbing up them to top spots.

The ongoing PSL season has not been a lucky one for the two teams. Despite having a number of hard-hitting batters, Quetta’s batting line-up has not lived up to the promise in PSL 8. Similarly, in bowling, Naseem Shah and Umaid Asif have hardly looked impressive.

Meanwhile, Karachi Kings’ bowling was also badly exposed by Islamabad United in their last match which saw Azam Khan smashing sixes and fours against talented seamers like Mohammad Amir and Tabraiz Shamsi.

Having won only one out of their seven games, Karachi are the only team Quetta have beaten so far in the competition and thus, they will be a bit confident of their chances in the clash. On the other hand, Imad Wasim-led side has managed to win only two of their eight matches in the league.

Other PSL match

Islamabad United became the second team to qualify for the playoffs after Lahore Qalandars as they battled past Quetta Gladiators by 2 wickets in the 21st match of ongoing PSL season at the Pindi Cricket Stadium on Sunday. Batting first, Quetta posted a 180-run target, thanks to half-centuries from Mohammad Nawaz and Najibullah Zadran. In response, Islamabad blazed away in characteristic fashion, as Azam Khan and Faheem Ashraf struck up a valuable partnership, with Ashraf finishing off the game in 19.3 overs.
