ISLAMABAD: The highly anticipated ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is set to start today, February 17, with a thrilling clash between two-time champions Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
The opening match is scheduled to begin at 8pm PST, marking the start of an exciting season of cricketing action. In a double-header extravaganza, the afternoon match will kick off at 2pm, followed by the evening fixture at 7pm. Matches held during Ramadan will commence at 9pm.
The Pakistan Cricket Board’s headquarters, Gaddafi Stadium, is hosting its inaugural PSL opening ceremony, starting at 6:30pm. Fans can look forward to captivating performances by renowned artists such as Arif Lohar, Natasha Baig, pop band Noori, and the dynamic duo behind the HBL PSL 9 anthem song, Ali Zafar and Aima Baig. The ceremony promises to dazzle spectators with spectacular fireworks and a mesmerizing laser show.
PSL 9 to Feature 34 Matches
PSL 9 will feature a total of 34 matches spread across four cities: Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi. Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium will be the venue for nine matches, including five home games for Lahore Qalandars. The picturesque Multan Cricket Stadium will host five matches, all of which will feature Multan Sultans.
The action-packed tournament will kick off in Lahore and Multan from February 17 to 27 before shifting to Karachi and Rawalpindi. Rawalpindi’s Pindi Cricket Stadium will host nine matches from March 2 to 10, with Islamabad United playing five of their fixtures there. Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators will also feature in matches at the Pindi Cricket Stadium.
The National Bank Stadium in Karachi will host a total of 11 matches, including the highly anticipated grand finale on March 18. Karachi Kings will play a minimum of five matches at their home ground, while Quetta Gladiators are set to play at least three matches at the National Bank Stadium.
